Weddings are a joyous and life changing occasion, but they tend to come with a hefty price tag. In a tough economy, many couples are looking to keep their day special without going into mountains of debt.
Fortunately, thanks to Pinterest and numerous blogs out there, there are endless ideas for inexpensive wedding crafts for everything from custom handmade paper invitations to wedding favors.
Add a bit of sparkle and your own creative flare to your custom day. Not feeling creative? Consider having a local artisan or crafter help you out.
Inexpensive DIY Wedding Craft Ideas
For my wedding, one of the crafts we created was my veil. It was very simple and cost less than $10 in materials. We bought the material, some hair combs, a hot glue gun and some silk flowers. It was perfect and much less expensive than even the most simple veils in the store. I received many compliments on it – no one even knew I threw it together myself in less than 30 minutes!
We also did centerpieces for all the tables with white rose floating candles and inexpensive, gorgeous glass bowls I found at a store called “Old Time Pottery”. Crafters who have this store in their region are likely familiar with it. They have a lot of lovely florals and other craft supplies very cheap and will even sell wholesale to small craft businesses. Bonus!
Handmade paper is a very simple craft and a great way to consider creating your own custom invitations. I used a stationary shop and that expense grew out of hand quickly. Had I known how easy handmade paper is; I would have done that myself also!
Inexpensive DIY Wedding Favor and Decoration Ideas:
Refrigerator magnets (inexpensive to purchase and customize)
Mini chalkboards (use a dollar store frame and chalkboard paint)
Boxes of candy (use the little boxes that look like Chinese take out containers)
Handmade terrariums (use dollar store jars, greenery and stones)
Wine bottle lamps with batterly LED lights
Custom labels placed on candies, soaps, or other handmade items
Potted plants (decorate the pots and grow the plants yourself – herbs or easy to care for houseplants are great choices)
Weddings are a great place to use your gift of creativity and personal expression to create a unique wedding and save money at the same time.
